Smothered Okra



Ingredients:

3lbs Okra
1lb skinless smoke sausage
1/2 cup of mushrooms (chopped)
1/2 onion (chopped)
1lb of shrimp
1 Jalapeno pepper (Optional)
2 tbl spoon of garlic
1/2 stick of butter
2 tbl spoon virgin olive oil
1 tbl spoon of flour
1 tbl spoon of thyme

Instructions:

Sprinkle flour lightly over okara and bake on 350 for 90 minutes. Add 2 tbl spoons of virgin olive oil to skillet or pot, add okra and cook on medium fire for 90 minutes (to remove slime). Add onion, smoke sausage, garlic, jalapeno pepper, mushroom, 1/2 stick of butter and season salt (to desired taste).

Sautee shrimp in skillet with butter, season salt and thyme. Add to okra and cook for an additional 30 minutes.

  1. I'm not sure what Okra is? What would you compare it to? I wonder if we Aussies call it by another name....must check it out. I'm sure the kids would love this recipe!
